
Everyone loves a parade and this one is no exception. The
Parade of Lights begins
6:30 p.m.
Saturday, December 6th at
Odessa
College
,starting at 23rd street. Lighted floats travel South on Andrews Highway/Grant Avenue
to 4th Street . Floats are judged for Best Lighted Float in the following divisions:
Community Organization, Commercial and School entries. With the
exception of the school entries that will receive plaques, cash awards are
presented in the amounts of $1,000 for
First Place
, $500 for
Second Place
and $250 for
Third Place
. A plaque will also be awarded for the Mayor’s Award, Best Float in the
Parade. Award announcements will be printed in the Odessa American Newspaper and
presented at the January City Council Meeting.
The deadline to submit the Parade application is noon
Thursday, December 4th and the entry fees are:
$50 for Commercial Entries & $25 per each additional vehicle
$25 for Community Organizations.
Nonprofit entries with multiple vehicles
will pay a $25 entry fee plus $5 per each additional vehicle.
